| Route Notes | BC at Glacial Lake C1 at below Snow Pyramid. Jungmann and Mattle started summit push from BC at midnight. Weather clear and calm. They reached C1 at 3 am, where rest of the team was waiting. Below C1 there were many snow mushrooms to overcome, which were made of loose snow. Whole team left C1 at 4 am. Deep snow, very loose snow. At 6700m ridge becomes very sharp and steep. Team had to concentrate very much as they were climbing without rope. Good views from summit. Descent was straightforward. Team took ice-screws out again. They descended to C1, where they arrived at 6:45 pm. On the whole, conditions were very precarious as a lot of the snow mushrooms that had to be overcome, were made of loose snow. Steepest section was behind second tower at 6350m. It was blank ice at a gradient of about 75 degrees. |
