| Route Notes | Einwaller climbed up to ABC (5700m) for acclimatization on 10 Oct. His plan was to go to C2 and to summit after having weather forecast from his friends in Austria. On 14 October one of his Sherpas Phurba Thundu, Ang Jangbu of Denicolo team, Lhakpa Nurbu and Temba Wongdi of Japanese Hayashi team went up to put fix lines to C2. The four Sherpas were at about 6500m (C2). The avalanche occured around 12:30 hours and swept the Sherpas. Denicolo who was watching the avalanche went up to see if anybody alive. He found dead body of Phurba Thundu at about 5300m and no trace of other Sherpas. Next day the dead body was brought down by Sherpas to BC. Einwaller returned to Kathmandu on 18 Oct and may leave on 23rd Oct. Sherpas: Phurba/Furba Thundu Sherpa, (10-7-2032), Beding, Everest 18/5/04 Phurba Tenzing Sherpa, (10-02-2045), Beding Both are brothers. |
