| Route Notes | BC at above Gorak Shep near lake C1 at normal C2 site. 1st to Island Peak. Occupied only one camp above BC but pitched a camp above C1 at East Col in case of emergency but never used it. "We were very lucky - we had beautiful weather - wind not so strong as on Ama Dablam last year." Jung went to 6800m then too tired to go on. Kang to 5800m then not strong enough for difficult route Sherpas said day ahead. Kim to 6800m then too tired to go on (did not know at the time he turned back that toes on both feet had gotten frostbitten - tips are black but serious). |
