Route Notes C3 at just below East Col. High point at 6800m at East Ridge. C3 occupied 10 May by all members except Vandevoorde, who reached C3 but descended to C2. From 3 pm on 10th strong winds started blowing, perhaps 80 km/hr and kept blowing all afternoon and night and all day on 11th; filled tents with winds blowing snow at C3. On 11th only Bockstael, De Boeck and Moti Lal Gurung stayed at C3. De Boeck wanted to see Tibet so climbed up to Col at about 6600m to see over East Ridge to north while Gurung went up East Ridge to 6800m to find route very difficult (and got very tired and slight altitude problem). On 11th they dug out Koreans abandoned tents and on 12th dug out this team's tents and down to BC, where other members had arrived on 11th. Climb finished because of continuing strong winds and a lot of snow.
