| Route Notes | BC very near Khumbu Glacier, due est of Kalapattar high point ABC on moraine directly below normal route C1 at top of a serac on SE Face. High point at SE Face at top of seracs (C2 site). Afternoon of 20th started snowing and snowed every afternoon - 3 ft snow every afternoon. 21st down to ABC, 22nd back to C1, 23rd to BC to wait to see how weather would be. 25th to ABC, 26th to C1, 27th to 6400m fixing route and up to site for C2 at 6700m, but slept in C1. 27th small avalanches and three hit team and half buried Roslan Ahmad, who was belaying Silva in loose snow. Decided in C2 that night that snow conditions too dangerous to continue. 28th Silva alone to clear C2 and heavy snowfall while he was up there. All down to BC 28th. 3 members climbed together with Ang Pasang Sherpa to C1. Ramli got very sick on 23 April in descent with chest infection and stayed in BC for rest of climb. Thereafter 2 members and Sherpa climbed together. Sherpas: Ang Pasang Sherpa, Bupsa-7, Solukhumbu, Everest Aut 93 |
