| Route Notes | Team memberes: 1. Astakhishvili 2. Buskhikutze 3. Nemsitsveridze, Merabi (father) 4. Nemsitsveridze, Saba (son) 5. Shirbiladze Climbing route: From BC walk towards west then turn East up to South Ridge to South Shoulder then eastward approach to summit pyramid. BC about 60m below the Makalu BC, west of Arun river. BC to C1 about two hours easy walk on muddy, grass and rock tail. C1 at 5800m below Rock wall about 60m high on South Ridge. C2 at 6400 on South Ridge below rocky pyramid. Route between C1-C2 mainly dry rock - can be graded 4-5 Russian grade. On 24 May the team reached C2. The team planned to summit next day. Whole night snow fell. Nemsitsveridze said that following morning he saw the route it was not possible to follow up with lots of fresh snow. There was danger of avalanches on the route. Then he decided to call off the expedition. The returned to Kathmandu on 2 June and will leave on 10 June. |
