Route Notes BC at true Kangchang on false Dzasampa of Schneider map ABC south of Nangpa La C1 on West Ridge C2 on North Ridge. First tried to gain col at bottom of ridge running from point 6735m. Thivel tried alone on 10 Oct and turned back 50m below Col (6600m) because not well acclimatized and reported to team this way too difficult (too many seracs) for this team. Decided to join Japanese route. Route difficult because of necessity to descend and then ascend final part of route to top. Got onto South Face at 7100m to avoid steep rock on North Face. Team used Japanese ropes by agreement, but Japanese removed ropes before French summited and this made descent even more difficult.
