| Route Notes | BC at Everest BC C1 at top of Khumbu Icefall C2 in Western Cwm (same as Everest C2) C3 on Lhotse West face (near other's lower C2). Climbed at first with Russian Lhotse team. C2 made with tent pitched for C1 which no longer existed. Helped Lhotse expedition to carry supplies up mountain and after leader broke his ribs about 1 May, not enough manpower to attempt Nuptse (intented to climb N Face). Carried Lhotse's oxygen to C3 twice, and on 22 May to bring down the tent there. Later helped helped Lhotse team bring down their gear. Only 3 Nuptse climbers since after 1 May when Kozlov broke his rib at BC when he tripped over a rope in the dark. Team was actually on Lhotse only. |
