Route Notes After the team arrived at BC, they went to Lobuche East for an acclimatization climb. They summited the mountain on 26 April and again on the 28th, then returned to BC on the 30th. At this time, the Khumbu Icefall was very unstable and the dry West Face of Lhotse, overshadowing the Western Cwm, was frequently shedding loose rock. The leader, Russell Brice, considered the conditions too dangerous and announced on 5 May that the expedition was cancelled. No one climbed above BC.
