Route Notes Hiroshi, Japanese Numbur summiter - 24 Dec 83 1963 Numbur Hitachi believes 1963 expedition was successful. Matsuo is photography engineer working for photography Co that makes color film. Oriental Photographic Industry Co in Tokyo on engineering staff; this 1st time in March. Plans to come again to climb Gaurishankar in 1965. Climbing last 2 days very difficult but all in good health. More difficult than expected. No one even attempted climb Numbur before because of very hard blue ice between C4 and C5 which have more of in Japan. 2 botanists with expedition studied material in East Nepal especially Junbesi and Jiri - vegetation very similar to Japan. Collected many plant specimens, insects, etc. Report later after study date knew this from fewer rept but surprised at its extent very similar especially in temperate zone. 1st study ecologically and socialogically in east Nepal done by this group.
