Route Notes Route SE Face= 1979 Japanese route, face to ridge. 2 icefalls: 1st 1000m high between C1 and C2 and 2nd 800m above C2. Above 2nd icefall is ice face requiring technical climbing. About 1200m fixed rope needed. First below summit very big crevasses. One snow avalanche hit Kim. Daily avalanches, not so big and no one seriously hurt. One member descending from top hurt ankle and stayed in C3 one week and will arrive KTM 22 May with other members; only leader in KTM now. No frostbite. Only one summit attack. Other 4 members gone trekking in east even before reaching BC because of disagreement. Kim - 17 March 82 Route = SE Ridge - 1979 spring Japanese route 7 members now in KTM, arrived 14 March 25 March leave for Pokhara by bus 15 days to BC via Lete and Ghasa, Thulibugin Pasa to BC at 4300m on North Annapurna Glacier 3 camps above BC 3 Sherpas above BC No oxygen Summit 30 days after BC
