Route Notes Expeditions to Himlung prior to 1992 were probably climbing Nemjung. Stopped by 100m crevasse 1 km long. Many crevasses in this area not possible to cross over or go round, so climb finished. Also stones in C2 area which hit Shigemori and Pemba Sherpa. Autumn season better time for this route; maybe not possible this route in winter. In winter would take 10 days go around crevasse area if at all: would mean long route around east end onto knife ridge above crevasse area. Had strong winds and snowfall as per Tourism Ministry report of 24 Dec 84. Expedition in 3 parties and planned 1st party to leave early, as Ikeda and Yamashita did.
Accidents Stonefall stopped Pemba and Shigemori 5 days (this was all)
