Route Notes Route between BC and C1 was difficult to find due to crevasses. On their first trip to C1, the team put up two intermediate camps. One at 5100m just below an icefall and one just above icefall at 5300m. They marked route, set up C1 on 20 Oct, and descended to BC. On 21 Oct they ascended directly to C1 which took 5 hours. From C1 to C2 the main difficulty were the ice flutes below the pass. Team put up another intermediate camp at 5900m on 22 Oct. They stayed one night and ascended to C2 on 23 Oct. On 24 Oct they descended to BC in about 4 hours. They rested at BC for 1 day and went for summit push on 25 Oct. BC to C1 in 5 hours; C1 to C2 in 6 hours. On 28 Oct they left C2 at 1 am. Weather was good, full moon. They climbed for about 3 hours. They were on the ridge, however they could not walk on top of the ridge due to a cornice. They walked below the ridge but snow was very hard and very difficult to walk on. They stopped at 4 am and waited for the sun to come up to have a closer look at the route. They finally decided that the route was too difficult for them and turned back at 6:30 am. On way down they dismantled all camps and descended to BC, arriving at 8 am. The group walked out via the Kang La.
