| Route Notes | This peak is southeast of Chamlang. BC 09/11 4400m (vegetated hillside) C1 14/11 4800m (Sherpa camp) Smt 14/11 by Madison, Hesser, Draves, Ang Phurba Sherpa, Dawa Nurbu Sherpa, Tenji Sherpa, Dorje at 2:30 pm. Team took helicopter, but staff started from Tumlingtar to Khembalung village (walk to BC about 2 days). Sherpa team fixed the route 13/11. It was mainly rock and 5.7 US grade and quite vertical. There was some hard snow as well. The team and Madison wore crampons to climb the route. Team left BC at 2 am and Sherpas were up at high camp as they had fixed the rope the previous day. At about 6 am they reached the Sherpa camp. The route to C1 was easy scrambling. The Sherpas had fixed a quarter of the route the previous day and on summit day they resumed fixing, so progress was slow. Descent was a combination of abseil and down-climbing. They reached BC at about 7:30 pm. Walters stayed at BC. This team took a permit for nearby Ek Rate Danda. |
