Route Notes BC at normal site - all 4 expeditions together. 1st summit bid 27 April but only 100m higher; strong cold winds turned these six members (all but Peter Burgess) back to C3. 2nd bid successful: forced wait extra day in C3 by winds but on 7th May was clear and clear ("the only day") and were only four members for top now (Canadians dropped out for uncertain reason). 3 Americans left C3 at 3:30 am and Czech at 5:00 am and on top: Alzner at 12:40 pm and other 2 Americans 10-20 minutes later; Czech at 3:00 pm and all slept in C3, a very unstable camp with ice underneath cracking loudly: "a scary night." Germans may report it's no longer there. Canadians' high points: Burgess to C2, McKinlays to 7500m. Shelley McKinlay - 17 May: Burgess became unconscious on walk-out on 12 May but recovered after few hours but didn't remember leaving BC on 10th - like a small stroke.
Accidents Eriksson 2 frostbitten thumbs; Burgess unconscious on walk-out
