Route Notes C1 at Naike Col. Porters only go to 4000m but not good place so expedition moved BC up to good site after 3 days. 27-29 Sept beautiful weather but then the winds started and were very strong. C4 pitched but winds destroyed tent and not sensible to pitch new C4. When making C2 heavy snowfall and little avalanching. 1st summit attempt was from C3 on 9 Oct Georges and Salamin to 7500m, next Chantal Mauduit 11th to 7600m, 13th Turrettini to 7000m. 19 Oct Georges, Salamin and Mauduit from C3 for top, Mauduit again only to 7600m (the plateau) because of winds ("she had not enough kilos") while other 2 went to summit at 11:30 am and returned to C3 that night (Sherpas had already cleared C1 and C2). This the last day for climbing because of fixed program and flight bookings. Fixed ropes: 300m on big seracs between C1 and C2.
