Route Notes BC at left of glacier (others on right at 4700m) C2 at Naike Col (just above Col on rocky pyramid) Biv at North Col. All members not at Samagaon on 11th Sept. Bianchi and Kuntner left on 1 Oct because their climb finished and wanted to get home soon as possible. Summiters climbed to top from C2. They decided suddenly to go to top with Wielicki on easy route in good weather and not wait for C3's establishment. 27 Sept 3 men left C2 at 1 am to C1 at 6 pm [and summited the next day]. 28th Sept the 2 Bulgarians from C2 10 pm and reached 7800m at 10 am 29th and going too slowly and had no biv equipments and getting tired so back to C2. 30th Sept Stocka and Pankiewicz to 7000m and bived there, left gear for C3 there and down 1 Oct. 2nd Oct Sprutta, Vermeiren and Dmowska from C2, took gear from 7000m and found empty tent 2-3m off route and just near it Dmowska slipped, fell and died. Sprutta, her boy friend, went to search for her while Vermeiren stayed in tent. Vermeiren fell to his death on descent to C2 the next day. Polish International Expedition to Manaslu - Aut 1992 Report relating to accidents of Miss Sylvia Dmowska and Mr Sven Vermeiren. On October 2nd the following team left C2 (6600m) at 8 am: Mariez Sprutta (Polish), Sven Vermeiren (Belgian) and Sylvia Dmowska (Polish). They were supposed to get altitude 7300m in order to fix C3. Weather was good (sunny little windy). Using fix ropes at 6 pm they reached 7200m. Because of darkness and getting bad weather they decided to stop going up and to bivouac in abandoned tent of Canadian expedition. While getting to the tent, just 2-3 meters below it Miss Dmowska slipped down ice slope. Vermeinen stayed in the tent and Sprutta went down in order to search Miss Dmowska. It was already completely dark and his searching gave no results, however he found ice-axe and gas stove carried by Miss Dmowska. Finally he got back to C2 (6600m) without finding his partner. At midnight Mr K. Wielicki and Mr B. Dimitrov left BC in order to help in rescue action. They reached C1 (5550m) in the morning on October 3rd, being all time in radio contact with Vermeiren (C3) and Sprutta (C 2). At 7:30 am from C3 Vermeiren started going down using fix ropes to C2, from where he was observed by Sprutta. At 10:30 am Vermeiren was seen last time on easy slope at 6800m, close to C2 and suddenly disappeared. Sprutta left C2 in order to search Vermeiren. He did not meet him and in that situation Wielicki and Dimitrov decided to go quickly up from Col to continue rescue action going up at 4 pm. At 6450m (below C2) they found Vermeiren seriously injured without consciousness. They transported him to C2 and started recusitation, but it gave no results and at 7 pm Vermeiren died because of injuries and getting cold. Wielicki, Dimitrov and Sprutta spent a night in C2 and next day (Oct 4th) they continued searching Miss Dmowska. They found her on the slope, above C2, hundred meters left aside the route; she was dead, probably because of injuries after 500m fall down though serac and slope. After that Weilicki, Dimitrov and Sprutta transported both bodies to crevasse below serac at 6500m and buried them there. The same day in very bad weather (heavy snowfall, strong wind) they reached C1 and next day hardly they managed (still in very bad weather) to get Samagaon and then after Base Camp.
Accidents Passino jumped crevasse Sep 27 and injured both feet; two fatalities
