Route Notes BC at normal site for NE Face ABC at 4800m C3 at NE Face seracs. In KTM before leaving for Manaslu, decided since team only 2 instead of 4 or 5, would be safer to climb normal route than NW Face. C1 pitched on 30 Sept but first slept in on 3 Oct. One summit attempt: Hori and sirdar Moti Lal Gurung went up and made C3 with Spanish member Juan and Ang Lhakpa Sherpa on 23 Oct. Next day on up and at 7500m Hori sick (had cold?) so in bad condition and turned back with Moti to BC some day while Spanish member and Ang Lhakpa made biv at 7800m and summited following day. Dangerous route: many avalanches (Spaniards stayed high during bad weather and were hit often, Japanese down quickly and not hit). Climb abandoned on day of Hori's descent because had brought only 2 weeks of high altitude food.
Accidents Kurotaki had limbago and could not carry so stopped climbing
