Route Notes BC at Japanese BC site Biv 1 on glacier Biv 2 on glacier. Constant fresh deep snow with snowline well below Sama (perhaps at 3000m). 16th March went up to final loads but couldn't find it in deep snow so back to BC. Obvious would need wait at least 10 days to resume climb. 9th March started to Naike Col but couldn't reach (too late) & then that night snowfall began. 10th March retreated to BC & several days of snowfall. Route variation seems interesting and plan to return to it in 1990.
