| Route Notes | BC at 3900m at 1-1/2 hours from Samagaon C1 at 5150m at 2 hours below Naike Col C2 at 6200m just above white serac zone on NE Face C3 at 6850m just below North Col C4 at 7400m on rocky shoulder above N Col High point at C4. 15th April to early May bad weather (thunderstorms and heavy snowfall). C4 pitched on 3 May and deserted on 4th. All survivors in BC 4th May except Baessler who got to BC on 6th and evacuated by helicopter 9th May with Wirthensohn. On 9th started up again, reached C3, looked for 2 dead men, another half-meter snowfell and on 11th abandoned climb. Klaiber fell in fixed ropes returning to C3 after seeing he could not reach C4, no one saw fall, he just disappeared. May 4 Oberbichler fell descending from C3 because heavy snowfall (again fall not seen but he was found badly bashed). |
