Route Notes BC above Samagaon ABC on a ridge C1 at col above glacier C2 on NE Face High point at C2. Much fixed rope from C1 to C2 and between ABC and C1, total 300m rope. 5th Oct down for 2 days in ABC before summit push but had to stay 15 days at low camps because very deep snow with great avalanche danger. 21st Oct started up again and spent one day digging out ABC. 22 Oct found one tent at C1 after digging and on 23rd Oct dug out C1 where much equipment. 24th Oct slept at C1 and 25th Oct checked equipment intending make summit push beginning 26th Oct, but 25th Japanese had avalanche taking away 4 Japanese and 4 Sherpas at their C3 so cancelled summit plans to help. Avalanche showed condition of Manaslu's wide face: risk of avalanche above very big, very strong wind.
