Route Notes 5 members - 13 May 80 23 April one summit attempt from C5 but wind defeated them. Lee Jong-Ryang + 2 Sherpas could not go up but down only; C5 was snowhole. 27 April 2nd summit attempt reached 7600m, then snow and strong wind so returned to C5. 28 April 3rd attempt Seo Dong-Hwan + 2 Sherpas was successful. Wind and snow; summiter Seo Dong-Hwan has little frostbite in his fingers. Were on NE Face route, mostly same as Japanese-Iran except between C4 and C5 where Koreans went to right side of snow slab whereas Japanese-Iran went to left side. Used oxygen only above C5 on 27 and 28 April and sleeping at C5 23 April. Prechandra Shrestha, Tourism - 4 May 80 Summit 28 April 9:30 am. Started from C5 at 8:30 (altitude not given). 20 minutes on summit where placed Korea and Nepal flags and descended to C4. Summiters: 1) Seo Dong-Hwan, born 1953, businessman, Seoul 2) Ang Pasang 3) Ang Zawa 27 April was bad weather which defeated 1st attempt and stayed night at C5. No mention of further attempts or abandoned. Lee In-Jung - 2 March 80 Same route as couloir Korean expedition, "we must try again." Deputy leader Lee only member to have come to Manaslu before. Leave KTM 5 March by road to Trisuli Arrive BC after 11 days = 16 March with about 200 porters. 2 sirdars: Mingma Tenzing BC to C2 Pasang Norbu to C5 4 or 5 Sherpas climbing high; summit 20-25 April. Lee Young-Jin - 26 Feb 80 Korean Manaslu: All members in KTM; leave 5-10 March by road to Trisuli and then 12 days march to BC. Same route as earlier Koreans expedition: NE Face BC about 3800m 5 camps above base camp with C5 at about 7800m Use oxygen from C5 7 Sherpas with expedition, but how many will go high not certain: about 6 Sirdar = Mingma Tenzing who stays BC or ABC All members South Koreans
