Route Notes BC 10/09 C1 15/09 C2 16/09 C3 26/09 C4 27/09 Smt 28/09 by all members and Sherpas. Albu and Matter set out from C4 at 10 pm on 27 Sept. Albu and Pemba Sherpa reached the summit at 5:15 am, Matter and Tenji Sherpa at 5:30 am on 28 Sept. Bethell and Pasang Thendu reached the summit plateau at 6 am, but had to wait 2-3 hours to go to the summit because it was very busy. Albu waited for 40 minutes on the summit for the sun to rise. He was very cold and used some oxygen while waiting. Others used oxygen from C4 to summit to C4. According to Albu, ascent wasn't difficult, but the descent was. Albu ran out of water on the descent, he started to eat snow and was finally given some juice by a Sherpa. He went down all the way to BC, which took him 14 hours. Sherpas had taken all tents from high camps, so Radu had to descend the whole way. He reached BC at 7 pm. Bethell some frostbite at toes, went to hospital in Kathmandu, but not serious. Albu spent one night in hospital in Kathmandu, some frostbite at face, forehead and big toe, not serious. Matter came out trekking, Albu took heli from Samagaon on 30 Sep. Bethell by heli from Samagaon to Kathmandu on 01/10. Albu had planned to climb Ama Dablam in a speed record alone after Manaslu, but it didn't work out because of exhaustion; he lost 10 kg on Manaslu and never tried Ama Dablam. Left BC on 29-Sept (Albu), 1 Oct (Bethell), 1 Oct (Matter). Oxygen: Taken and used by Albu on the summit for approximately 30 minutes By other members and Sherpas from C4 to summit ans down to C4. Accidents Radu slight frostbite at face and forehead and at big toe but not serious. Bethell slight frostbite at toes, not serious.
