Route Notes BC 01/09 4847m C1 06/09 5604m C2 10/09 6336m C3 17/09 6916m Smt 18/09 by Phurba Tashi at 09:45 am, Horne at 10:30 am, Ngima Sona and Seidel at 10:45 am. Summit team left C3 at 00:20 am. They took 3-1/2 hours to C4 (reached at 4 am) and summit at 10:30 am. Conditions good, however, as they were the first that season, Phurba was breaking trail, which was sometimes hard crust and soft ground. Good weather. Phurba Tashi fixed the final 45 metres of rope to the summit. While he was doing that the rest of the team were waiting. Phurba Tashi and Horne descended to BC, where they arrived at 7 pm. Seidel and Ngima Sona descended to C2, where they arrived at 5 pm. On 19 Sept everyone back at BC. Hunter reached 6500m on 10 Sept. He had circulation problems in his left arm and as he was worried about having a stroke, he abandoned the climb. Stayed at BC till the end. Russell Brice stayed at BC until 14 Sept; he never intended to go any farther. Team left by heli from Samagaon on 22 Sept. Fixed rope: 45m on summit by Phurba Tashi Oxygen: Used from C2 to top to crampon point by members, C3 to top to C3 by Sherpas.
