Route Notes Five of the eight members managed to reach the expedition high point of 7500m on 18 May. They were Bowers, Buchanan, Kiyomoto, Lopez and Saunders. They were accompanied by five Sherpas. It was a windy day, and three other members turned back between C3 and 7500m. Fletcher's eyesight was badly affected by the wind: he lost 90 percent of his vision in one eye and 50 percent of it in the other. Perhaps his corneas were frozen. He turned back at about 7000m. He was the only climber on the team to develop a health problem. Ledet and McGinn simply ran out of steam. No member used oxygen, but "one or two Sherpas," who were very tired, did use it when they went for the high point on 18 May. Sherpas (as listed on AC website): Phurba Ridar Bhote Kul Bahadur Thapa Magar (Talua, Okhaldhunga, 2027/4/6 Pemba Wangdi Sherpa (Yaphu, 2044/8/13) Lhakpa Dendi Sherpa Ngima Dorji Sherpa Chomba Sherpa Jangbu Sherpa Keith Kerr and Andrea Beretta were an independent team with Saunders group. Their only hired was Kul Bahadur Thapa Magar
