Route Notes The avalanche that fatally struck some teams in the morning of 23 September did no damage to this team, but its blast did move their tents, with all of the team's members inside, five meters. On 1 October, eight members and ten Sherpas left C4 for the top at 2:00 am. One member, Phillips, turned around at 7700m: he was not on oxygen, and was very tired, and had been unnerved by the avalanche. Two Sherpas turned around with him. The rest of the summit party reached the top between 8:00 and 9:45 am and descended to C3 between 1:00 and 4:00 pm. All were in BC on the 2nd. Some of the successful members climbed with oxygen, some without. They were Belanger (at 8:05 am on oxygen), Nichols (8:00 am on oxygen), Neilsen (8:00 am on oxygen), Mikhanovskaia (8:00 am on oxygen) and Trieu (9:45 am, no oxygen). Members who did use oxygen turned it on in C4, went to the summit with it and turned it off back in C2. Other non-summiting members: Bonner reached C1 when it was first occupied on 21 September, but he lost all motivation to continue climbing and left in a helicopter on the 25th. Bye got to C2 but the left team on the 26th. Apparently his experience at the time of the avalanche on the 23rd made him decide to leave: he was moved 30 feet by the blast. Harris also got to C2 on the 22nd, but he lost his boots in the avalanche. He left on the 25th. Huang also left on the 25th after having gotten to C2 of the 22nd. The avalanche unnerved him, and his 10-year-old child asked to come home. Reisinger also was unnerved by the avalanche after having reached C2 on the 22nd, and he left the team on the 25th. Sherpa summiters: Ang Gelu, 23/7/70, Surke, Chaurikharka-4, Solu, Everest X1, Cho Oyu X1 Changba Nurbu, 1964, Tate, Chaurikharka-7, Solu, Everest X8, Cho Oyu X1, Dhaulagiri X1, Manaslu X1 Lhakpa Dorje Nuri Pasang Nima, 28/1/74, Chaurikharka, Solu, Everest X2 Pasang Wangchu, 25/4/87, Cheremy, Bung-9, Solu, Everest X2, Manaslu X1 Tarke, 1967, Lokhim, Solu, Everest X4, Cho Oyu X5, Lhotse X1, Manaslu X2 Sange, 20/9/73, Sotang-6, Solu, Everest X3
