Route Notes Three members of the team, Gobbi, Magliano and Mondinelli, established their C3 at 6700m on 22 September. At 4:00 [4:45] am the next morning, when most people were asleep in their tents, a big serac fell from above the team's C3. Magliano and Dawa Dorje were occupying one tent, and the avalanche set off by the serac buried them 1.5 meters under snow. They were found after two hours of probing; both were dead. All tents at C2 (6200m) were destroyed by the blast of air caused by the avalanche, but no one was hurt. Dalla Rosa had left Magliano's team on 12 September for family reasons. So the surviving members were Gobbi and Mondinelli. Sherpa: Dawa Dorje, 22/8/83, Pangboche, Everest X3
