Route Notes Ali Baig out of 300 climbers was 1st person to reach 7000m. He went there (7000m) on the 22nd, but did not sleep there at C3 and then went back down to C2. Joy Deerness: 6200m Arthur Smith: 6800m Jennifer Kent: 5800m After avalanche occurred, all quit. Reason for stopping climbing: while deaths are common in mountaineering because of variuos reasons, this was a natural disaster (and some friends had died). Ali Baig would have been first Pakistani to have climbed this mountain, but he didn't want to climb over the souls of others whose dead bodies he helped to bring down. Ali Baig was with Glen Plake in C3 and said Glen Plake was the first person to get in touch with base camp after avalanche. Himalayan RST = Himalayan Rafting Sightseeing Trekking
