Route Notes Binfa, Dumais and Soto returned from BC to C1 on 22 September intending to establish C2 the next day. But early the next morning there was a fatal avalanche, and they descended to BC instead. On the 26th, Binfa and Dumais returned to C1; Soto had no wish to continue climbing. On the 27th, Binfa and Dumais moved up to 6100m and then returned to C1. The two Chileans decided in C1 that they did not want to continue to climb. They did not have sufficient time left to summit successfully. In addition, now they were only two members still climbing, and all three wanted to climb together. So they collected their gear in C1 and went back to BC that day. The climb was over.
