Route Notes This expedition was not directly affected by the fatal avalanche of 23 September, but the avalanche danger posed by the fatal avalanche prompted them to abandon their climb. Hamill climbed a few hundred meters above C2 on the 23rd to have a good look at the area and to volunteer to help rescue victims, but no one else from this team ventured above the camp. Two members dropped out well before the disaster; both reached C1. But Chlouber was not acclimatizing well, and he flew out of Samagaon on 11 September. Pierson also did not acclimatize satisfactorily, and he left Samagaon the after Chlouber.
