Route Notes Summit on 11 May by Valter at 2 pm. Paoletto, Valter, Giordani and Heltai left C3 at 11:30 pm on 10 May. Windy, but clear. Knee-deep wind pressed snow. Giordani reached 7500m, but turned back at around 8 am as he was very cold and tired. He descended to C3, where arrived at noon. Heltai reached 7600m and met the Iranians coming down who had just lost a friend (Jafar), who had fallen down the ridge. He helped the Iranians find their and spent about two hours, but could not find him. Afterwards the weather turned bad and he descended to C3 where he arrived at 9:30 am. Valter spent about 10 minutes on the summit and descended to C3, where he arrived at about 6 pm. Espito, Finali, Montanari and Paoletto reached C3 on 8 May. They spent one night at C3, but did not attempt the summit as they were all very tired. On 9 May they descended to BC. Martini reached C2 on 7 May; he had a cold and abandoned the climb. Oxygen: Not taken, not used.
