Route Notes The large expedition went to the summit in two groups. The first group, Dutt, Jalal, Malik, Mahabir Singh, Tenpa and Thapa, were accompanied by Chhebi Bhote, Karma Gyalzen and Lhakpa Tendu. They left C3 just after midnight, at 0:15 am on 9 May and all were on the summit at 5:40 am. In their descent, Chhebi and Karma Gyalzen stopped in C3 (Karma Gyalzen to wait for the next party), while the rest went all the way down to BC, where they arrived at 4:30 pm. The second group consisted of Angchok, Giacho, Joshi, Heera Singh, Kaman Singh, Tej Pal Singh and Chandra Bahadur Thapa, plus Karma Gyalzen (from C3), Kushang Dorje and Phurba Dorje. This group left C3 at 11:45 pm on the 9th and gained the summit at 4:44 am on 10 May. All descended to BC that day; they arrived there at 4:30 pm. All members and Sherpas except Tenpa used oxygen above C3 to the summit to C3; Tenpa used none at all. Non-summiting members: Ahuja, the expedition doctor remained in BC throughout the climb. Kothiyal expedition leader, went as high as C2 but spent most of the climbing period in BC. Ranjeet Singh reached C3 on 7 May, but then developed cerebral edema and descended to BC. Chand and Hoshiyar Singh were BC support team and did not go above BC. All members and Sherpas except Tenpa used oxygen above C3 to the summit to C3. Tenpa used none at all.
