Route Notes Smt: 30th September by Cool, Egglstone, Burr, Ostman, Dorje Gyalzen, Lhakpa Wangchu, Lhakpa Sherpa at 2:20 pm. Summit team left C4 at 8:30 am on 30 Sept. It was very windy and cold. Cool and Eggleston were carrying their skies. The team reached the rock tower (which is about 10m below the cornice) at about 2:10 pm. Cool continued up the cornice on his own and fixed it partly with rope. The members stayed at the rock tower as the rope was not good enough to bring the whole team up. There was a Spaniard, Miguel, who acted very angry and Cool said that he sort of prevented his members to go all the way to the top. They all stayed at the summit (the rock tower is close enough to the summit to be recognized as summit) for about 30 minutes. Cool and Eggleston skied down to C4, where they arrived at 4 pm. The other members and the Sherpas walked down and arrived at about the same time. The next day everyone went back to BC. Goddard reached 7000m on 29 Sept, however, as he had twisted his back (recurring injury) in the morning, he was in too much pain to carry on. He returned to C2 the same day, where he spent the night. Wright reached C4 on 29 Sept. He stayed the night, but as it was very windy he could not sleep and decided to descend to C2 the next day and not go to the summit. On 1 Oct Eggleston and Cool skied from the end of the fixed rope to C3 and then all the way from C3 to C2, from where they carried the skies down to BC.
