| Route Notes | Berbeka summit push started from BC to C2 on 30 April. He climbed to C3 on 1 May. On 2 May, he left C3 between 12-1 am and reached at about 7400m at about 5 am. It was very windy and started snow falling. No other climbers were willing to continue. Then Berbeka descended to C3 at about 6 am. He had to rest for some time. The wind was still blowing. He descended to BC where he arrived about 5 pm. On his second bid to summit Berbeka left BC on 10 May to C2. On 11 May to C3 and continued towards C4 hoping to summit on 12 May. He was with three members of French expedition when Berbeka reached 7200m, very strong and started picking up. Then French went down. There was a danger of avalanche too, so Berbeka turned around, arrived at BC between 5-6 pm. The snow condition was knee-deep, ascending was very slow. There were three crevasses between C2 and C3. These too were dangerous. Berbeka returned to Kathmandu on 19 May and will leave on 24 May. His plan to go to Annapurna was cancelled. |
