Route Notes Goni, Lagunilla, Porras, Soria, Chhang Dawa and Ngawa Gyalzen Sherpa left C2 at 8 am on 30 April. It took them about 8 hours to get to C3. It was very icy and it was snowing from about 7300m. They arrived at 4 pm at C3. It was very windy and it was difficult to pitch the tents, as the ground was very hard and icy. They stayed two nights at C3 and it was almost impossible to use the cooker to boil water as it kept on being blown out by they wind. After two days they descended to base camp, which took them about 12 hours. The snow was knee-deep and they were a bit worried about avalanches. They left the tents in the various camps as they were intending to do their summit push later. But the weather did not improve and they were were not able to move back up again. Carcavilla reached C2 on 24th April. He decided not to go any further as the slope looked very avalanche prone and he did not want to risk it. He spent one night at C2 and descended to BC the following day. Sherpas: Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Nurburchaur, Upper Walung, Makalu-9, Everest X3, Lhotse X1, Makalu X2, Cho Oyu X1 Ngawa Gyalzen (brother of Dawa), 2/8/81 (18/4/2038), Makalu-4, no 8000ers
