| Route Notes | High Point: 6900m on 24 April and 12 May by Rosa and Alfredo Fernandez, Dawa Chhiri and Nawang. Team left C2 at 7 am. The weather was clear and calm, but it had snowed a lot and it took them five hours to ascend to the Korean Camp at 6900m. They left a deposit there and descended back to base camp, where they arrived at about 5 pm. They stayed at base camp until 6th May and ascended to C1 again, but the weather was to bad to carry on, so they descended back to base camp. The second time they reached 6900m was on 12th May with Clive Jones and Alberto Pellizzari (from other expeditions). They were intending to ascend to C3 but they stopped at the Korean Camp and got into a tent together with Clive and Alberto to discuss what to do. The wind was about 60km/h and they decided to descend again. They left the camp at about 2 pm and descended to C2 at 6500m to spend the night. The weather at C2 was calm ,but it was snowing heavily. When they woke up in the morning their tents were covered in about one metre of snow. On 13th of May in the morning the packed up the camp and descended to BC. They abandoned the expedition and left BC on 14th May. Sherpas: Dawa Chhiri, Kurima, Lokhim, 20/02/1967, Everest X3, Makalu X3, Cho Oyu X3, etc. Nawang Gechwo Sherpa, 1986, Kurima, Lokhim-9, Solu, no 8000ers |
