Route Notes One member, Ms. Anne Picaud, developed serious altitude sickness at BC and had to be evacuated to Kathmandu by helicopter from BC on 1 October. She had never moved above BC. After occupying C2 on 30 September in the acclimatization phase of their climb, the four remaining members returned to BC to rest for two days. They had to stay longer: it started snowing on 3 October. On the 4th they decided to abandon their climb because the bad weather seemed likely to continue. On the 5th they returned to C1 to clear the gear and returned to BC, while their two Sherpas remained in C1 for two days waiting to go to C2 and clear it. But the Sherpas could not move above C1, and all the gear in C2 had to be left there. They left BC on 8 October and trekked out via the Larkya Pass. Sherpas: Chhang Dawa, 30/7/82 (15/4/2039)?, 31/7/79 (15/4/2036)?, Nurbu Chaur, Upper Walung, Makalu-9, Everest X2, Makalu, Lhotse and Cho Oyu X1 each Mingma Temba, 28/4/88 (1/1/2045), Makalu, Sankhuwasabha, no 8000ers
