Route Notes Benet, Meroi and Vuerich pitched their tent at 5650m on 27 September, moved it to 6400m on the 28th, then went back to BC on the 29th. On 2 October, they left BC and climbed to 6400mm, and on the 3rd they moved their tent up to 6900m. On 4 October they for the summit from 6900m. They left their tent at 2:10 am. "The route was not so difficult," said Meroi, and without fixing rope they reached the true summit separately: Benet summited at 11:15 am and went back to the col; Meroi at 11:35 am and down to the col; Veurich to 11:45 am and joined the other two at the col. Together they descended to BC at 8:00 pm. The other three members who were still climbing had fixed camps at 5650m for C1 and at 6400m for C2; they moved their tent to 6800m for their third camp on the 12th. When all the other members left BC on 10 October, these three, Canova, Morandini and Villosio, moved up to C1 and slept there. On the 11th, Morandini went back to BC alone; she had been to 6500m on 28th September, but now she was not well acclimatized. Canova and Villosio climbed to C3 at 6800m and slept there. On 12 October, Villosio and Canova moved up from C3: Villosio got to 7200m, did not feel well at all, so he too went down to BC while Canova continued up to C4 at 7400m alone. On 13th October Canova left C4 for the summit. But he stopped at 7700m because of unfavorable weather -- very cold and windy -- and now he was all alone as there were no other teams above C4 at that time. He descended to BC the same day, and the three climbers decided their climb was finished because the wind was too strong and all of them were tired. They had to wait at BC for porters to arrive. They cleared the mountain and left BC on the 17th. Benet and Meroi had originally planned to go by helicopter from Manaslu to Annapurna I and knock off one more 8000er, but after their Manaslu climb they cancelled that plan. Other non-summiting members: Andreatta and Baron reached 6000m on about 3 October, then were too tired to go higher.
