Route Notes Summit team left C3 at 5:30 am. Weather was calm and clear. From C3 to about 7900m snow conditions were good, crusty. From 7900m snow was very soft and it was hard work. Good views from summit. They spent 15 min on summit. Descended to C2 where they arrived at 4:30 pm. It started to snow during the night. The next day they descended to C1. It took them 17 hours due to lots of new snow. They started at 6:30 am from C2 and arrived at C1 at 11:30 pm. Katayama started to feel frostbite coming on during descent. During descent to C1 they left 5 full oxygen bottles and a tent as it was too heavy to carry. On 7 Nov they descended to BC. Katayama tried to thaw his feet there with hot water. On 8 Nov they left BC and descended to Samagaon from where they took a helicopter back to Kathmandu. Katayama's feet were still painful on his return but did not turn black. He does not think he will loose any toes.
