Route Notes After our 7 April non-stop snowfall for 72 hours 9-10 April and 13 April 36 hours non-stop snowfall, so C1 occupation delayed. Again weather bad and had to work to keep track open. Summit push from BC on 28 April at 6:00 am, reached C2, moved it to 6950m at 11:30 am and stayed there 14 hours; decided not to put a C3 at 7400-7500m because waited to take advantage of good weather. Left C2 at 1:30 am of 29th and got to top at 10:45 am after having to break trail from 6900m to 7400m (to plateau which was already swept clear by winds); waited at top for 1/2 hour waiting for Romanian Colibasanu to come up. Ochoa to C1 packing up gear while Egocheaga to BC. From C2 to top climbed roped together. 25 May 2006 - Ochoa tried to reach BC for his Dhaulagiri I climb, and he broke trail through deep snow to get there with one porter, but porter balked & said had been hit by lightning part way there and Ochoa abandoned the idea: thought no one else would be on the mountain so he was too late. Never reached BC.
