| Route Notes | BC at usual campsite. Miss Taniguchi, Pemba Dorji and Ang Kazi left C3 at 04:00 hours on May 16, reached to summit at 11:15 hours, stayed at summit till 12:30 hours, descended to C2 at 17:00 hours. Next day to BC. Weather, little cloudy and windy in the morning and rest of day it was very nice. On May 17th, some members of International Expedition, Germans, and Shimada summited. Another member of Expedition Konishi reached up to 6800m on May 26th; it was very windy and Konishi gave up climbing. The expedition collected 200 kgs of garbage from and around BC of Manaslu and about 4800 kg from Samagaon. The expedition could not undertake cleaning work on the mountain due to heavy snow conditions. Hiraga, Noguchi and Taniguchi returned to Kathmandu on May 24 by helicopter. Hiraga and Noguchi will leave Kathmandu on May 29, Taniguchi to leave on June 1. Konishi returned to Kathmandu on May 31 and leaves on the June 2. Pemba Dorje Sherpa (3 times Everest summiter) is from Beding, 29/4/77, and speed climbed in 2004 (8 hours 10 minutes to Everest summit). Ang Kazi climbed Manaslu, his first 8000er. He is 28 years old, Sisuwakhola, Sankhuwasabha district (Makalu area). |
