| Route Notes | BC just north of Pung Gyan Glacier ABC on snow at bottom of 2000m SE wall C1 on SE wall/face C2 on SE wall/face C3 on top of wall at SE pillar C4 on SE Pillar C5 on SE Pillar C6 on SE Pillar C7 at summit plateau. SE Wall to South Pillar was 2000m high, mixed ice and rock, 80 degrees steep with much snow avalanching. C3 sited where South Wall/Face becomes a ridge, SE Pillar. South Pillar very difficult rock with thin covering of snow. Never had day of sun all day with daily snowfall for all 50 days team was there. From C6 crossed summit plateau to summit. 3 summiters started from C7 at 6:00 am and on top on at 11:00 am. Down to C7 and via normal north side route and camped at 6300m in tent they took from C7 at 7:00 pm. 23rd from 6300m to Samagaon at 2:00 am and left Samagaon by helicopter same day. 6 members went up normal route to 5100m (C1 of normal route) to help summiters descend icefall when all fixed rope had been remove by local people. |
