Route Notes BC at Barun Pokhari ABC just north of Chago Barun Glacier junction C1 on glacier's east fork C2 again east on next branch of glacier C3 below Makalu La and southeast of it High point at NW Ridge. 4 tent poles broken by winds in several camps and BC camp tent picked up by wind. Route easy, constant strong winds. Babu and Nishimura descended directly to BC on Dec 24 and no more climbing. Left BC Dec 26, but heavy snowfall that day made retreat very difficult, "snow-swimming." Had fixed 1000m rope from C2 to highest point.
