Route Notes The Spanish group were two separate teams: Zarzuelo, Ibero, Casanovas and Trastroy arrived at ABC on 28 April via the normal route, trekking from Num to ABC. Picas and Batriu arrived at ABC on 3 May via crossing Amphu Laptsa, West Col and Sherpani Col. Zarzuelo turned around [on 21 May at 8100m] as she had been suffering from a cold for a while and was tired. On top of that she had lost a mitten and her hand was getting cold. Ibero reached the Makalu La (7400m). According to Picas, he had frostbite. Casanovas reached C2, he was too tired to carry on. Picas and Batriu madde their summit bid on 20 May. Picas turned around at 7900m due to pneumonia while Batriu continued on the 8250m then stopped due to exhaustion. Batriu tried again on 27 May together with German climber Thomas Laemmle, but then they only reached 7890m due to bad weather. Trastoy reached the col before the summit [8445m) on 9 May and stopped due to lack of fixed rope.
