Route Notes ABC 08/05 5600m C1 08/05 6430m C2.5 09/05 7200m on snowfield between rockbands C3 10/05 7400m Smt 11/05 by Mingma Gyalje (10:18 am), Dong and Nga Tashi at 10:48 am. Team left C3 at 9:30 pm on 10 May. They were intending to leave at 8 pm but winds where to high. There was fixed rope in the couloirs up to about 8445m. Mingma fixed about 80m of rope toward the summit, which had not been fixed. On the ridge toward the summit they used partially old ropes. They spent about 10 minutes on the summit and descended to C3, where they arrived at 6:30 pm. On 12 May to ABC and left 13 May by helicopter from Hillary BC (4800m). This team summited Dhaulagiri I on 30 April prior to arriving at Makalu ABC. Oxygen: Not taken, not used by Mingma Gyalje Taken and used by Dong and Nga Tashi from C3 to summit to C3. Sherpa: Nga Tashi, Yaphu-9, 04/10,1980 From Mingma's Facebook page: We reached Makalu fore summit at 9:03am on 11th May and I reached main summit at 10:18am. My partner Tashi and Jingxue (Chinese) reached at 10:48am after I put the final rope. Rope was not fix to main summit and we had to use our own 60m+20m main rope which we almost left at camp 3 after some people told it was fixed till Summit. Makalu wasn't easy mountain as I used to hear. I felt like it's completely nonsense to say Makalu is one of easy Peak among 8000m. Saulius Damaulevicius - 29 Oct 2018 Damaulevicius says that Gregory Attard as well as members of MAKA-171-02 only reached the foresummit and not main summit.
