Latorre and Llonch first tried for the summit on 18 May, however, when they reached C2 on 16 May the winds were too strong to continue up to C3, so they went back to ABC. During the second summit attempt they reached abut 7500m on 24 May; however, Latorre was feeling bad. He could not breathe properly and when they started to go from C3 to C4, Latorre's condition got worse. He thinks it could have been the onset of HAPE. The team decided to descend together and went all the way to ABC, where they arrived at 7 pm. Llonch also reached 7500m; however, as he was Latorre's friend, he did not want to continue on his own. Latorre was also involved in the attempted rescue of Yannick Gagneret from France. Oxygen: Not taken, not used |
