| Route Notes | Decoexsa Makalu 2008 Expedition - Roberto Rodrigo On 18 May, Ms Garcia, Ortubay, Rodrigo and Zaita left C4 at midnight towards the summit. The weather was good, no wind, but cold. At about 8:30 am of 19 May Garcia and Rodrigo reached at 8300m. Ortubay and Zaita reached at 8200m at about the same time. Suddenly a very strong wind picked up. They waited for about 30 minutes for wind to subside but it did not stop. Then the members decided to descend. All four climbers reached C4 at 3 pm slept there. Next day to C2 and following day they reached BC. At BC Rodrigo realized that some of his toes and fingers were frostbitten. Ms. Garcia and Rodrigo left BC for Kathmandu on 24 May by helicopter and trying to leave as soon as possible. Ortubay and Zaita returned Kathmandu on 29 May and will leave on 6 June. Fixed rope: contributed 150m. |
