| Route Notes | BC north of glacier junction C1 east arm of Chago Glacier C2 above Makalu La High point at 8250m couloir. All 4 members in C2 site but only Goni and Reketa slept there while other 2 members and 1 Sherpa down to C1 after depositing gear. 5th Goni and Reketa joined them in BC. 4 members BC to C1 11 May; 12 May C1 to C2 but Goni and Julen tent blown away at C2 so slept in C1, while Lagunilla and Villan and Mukta Lhakpa Sherpa [stayed in C2]. 13 May 2:00 am Lagunilla, Villan and Sherpa up from C2 to 8250m couloir; now no rope to equip couloir and wind blowing and cloudy and slept in C2 while Goni and Reketa went to BC. 14th Lagunilla, Villan and Muktu Lhakpa to BC in wind and climb finished. Fixed 400m (and found old rope 6800-7500m); our rope fixed 100m below 6400m and 150m 6800-7500m and 150m about 8000m on glacier. Sherpa: Mukta Lhakpa (Tashigaon, Ev 5/96) |
