Route Notes BC at glacier's junction C1 at moraine to east side of Chago Glacier on spur C2 below Makalu La High point at Makalu La. After C2 established, 21st April down from C2 to BC for rest. 26th April up to C1 and 27th to C2. 29th to Makalu La [at 7400m] where arrived 5 pm and down to C2 to sleep. 30th down to BC for rest. Again after 2 days at BC Simonetta got sick from bad food. 3rd May both tired to go up and reached C1. 4th May Simonetta up only to 6000m because weak from illness and returned to BC while Righeschi reached C2. 5th May heavy snowfall and he down to BC that day and they decided to give up because of bad food and weather. Again all climbing done by Simonetta and Righeschi together except on 4th and 5th May.
Accidents None except Simonetta stomach trouble; other 2 members headache and sight problems, went down from BC & never returned, left BC about Apr 22, had never been on expedition before, did not realize Himalaya not just like Alps
