Route Notes Wright and his teammate Scott Adamson, and David Gottlieb and his teammate Chad Kellogg, attempted two peaks rising from the Lunag Glacier, which branches westward off the Nangpa Glacier south-southwest of the Nangpa La into Tibet; both peaks are on the border with Tibet. They actually have no names and are not on the government's list of permitted peaks. Gottlieb obtained a permit for Jobo Rinjang, which he shared with Wright. Wright reported that his peak, which he called Lunag West, is 6492m (on the Schneider Khumbu map it is a peak given an altitude of 6507m). Wright and Adamson pitched their BC at 5100m on 10 October on the northwest side of the Lunag Glacier up on the grass next to the lateral moraine. Because of a lot of snow on the glacier, they made an ABC on the 20th at 5500m, which they launched their alpine-style climb. The two climbers left ABC at 5:00 am on 22 October and were back in ABC at 6:00 am the next day. The line they followed took them up the central couloir on the SE Face to the summit ridge, the SW Ridge. They were on the summit at 11:45 pm on the 22nd, rappelled down their route through the night to take advantage of the time when there was a minimum amount of rockfall, and returned to ABC at 6:00 am on the 23rd. When they got to ABC they were very tired, but undamaged by falling rock. They went back to BC on 24th, rested on the 25th to the 29th and then returned to ABC on the 30th. Now they climbed the NE Face of nearby point 6589m on the Schneider Khumbu map [aka Pangbuk North 6478m] with one bivouac on the 31st at 6280m. They were on the top of this unnamed peak at 4:00 pm on 1 November and returned to their bivouac for another night. They reached ABC at 2:00 pm on the 2nd, returned to BC on the 3rd and left it and the Lunags on the 6th.
